A Hitch Hiking Galah
On a sunny day in Launceston, this adventurous little Galah was taken on an unexpected and unfortunate road trip along the Bass Hwy.
Affectionately known as "Isuzu," the Galah collided with a truck (yes a large Isuzu Truck) and wound up in the truck grille en route to Devonport.
Isuzu remained there until the driver arrived at his destination in Devonport and, upon discovering the scared, feathery stowaway, promptly called for help.
A kind rescuer from the north west region was called in to help and was able to safely remove the galah from the grille and bring the Galah into our clinic for assessment
A series of X-rays revealed a misaligned mid-ulna fracture. Based on the results, our vet decided to implant a pin to stabilise the fractured bone and facilitate healing.
Isuzu is now on the path to recovery under the supervision of our team.
The adventurous little Galah is undergoing some light rehabilitation prior to being placed into an aviary to get some flight practice and to strengthen its wing muscles.
